Property & booking management platforms: Lake Como Homes & more

Payments whether as a virtual terminal or integrated dynamically to check out pages is increasingly important.

Case Study

Property & booking management platforms

Lake Como Homes is a 10-year-old business that rents over 700 properties on the Northern Italian Lakes. The website is a primary highly ranked marketplace on Lake Como, Italy, and generates thousands of bookings per year. The complications of using a legacy system with poor data integration were increasing workload and causing administration problems as the business grew. Payment reconciliations and data analysis was the major problem. Rentivo introduced a tailored PMS solution to wrap around the specific business model and to provide dynamic third-party API integrations for other specialist tools going forward.

With a revised website completed in the Autumn, the new backend administration, financial handling, and booking system were ready to accept New Years bookings.  In addition, the business had decided to adopt “Flynowpaylater” as an option for guests to benefit from a selection of credit lines in the process. The main website is also supported by a number of Rentivo satellite sites, which required booking integrations too.

Moving from a bespoke and aging system with transfer of historic historical booking data and payment schedules was extremely important. Use of API integration to manage all the booking details and implementation of the necessary rules was undertaken and the business was running at full steam for those early January bookings.

How can Rentivo help you?

As a business grows the data management becomes even more important.  The very nature of the industry and the fact that most businesses have grown organically with specific requirements has seen increased use of multiple technologies. One of the most fundamental parts of any rental business is data management and this is often performed in a PMS (Property Management System) or on spreadsheets, on paper or other means. This may more properly be called a BMS (booking management system) as PMS implies software that will support sophisticated real estate management (scheduling of labor, sources of contractors etc.)

Rentivo has an open approach to PMS use. The global nature of this business demonstrates that there are so many variations on data management requirements at a granular level, no single BMS can cover all requirements. With a need for payments, web-building, channel management, concierge apps, voice-activated hardware and more, the option to pick and choose Rentivo products and work with other specialist partners too, makes sense.

Our main focus is ensuring your business has the tools to run in the manner you wish, rather than be dictated to by the software and businesses who supply them.
